News Betches has become a time-honored tradition where I apologize for not getting things moving earlier and thank everyone for their motivational emails and shitty texts. This year there is a reasonable excuse and that is I moved and it fucking sucked! Of course I did get a rad new house upgrade, but it wasn’t worth our sacrifice and hardship. Enough of that talk… our favorite time of the year is upon us.
Like every year since the birth of MB the year is officially ushered in by the cosmic event affectionately referred to as Shredtoberfest. This weekend at the Burg you and your friends can go and snowboard. You can finally relive some of that pain and anguish that you have built up since last season. I was talking today to a co-worker explaining that I actually feel a certain sense of pain for all that time that goes by. I mean real, physical pain. It’s difficult to convey to some people. I remember one of the first articles we did on Pete Harvieux, he made a statement to me that I won’t ever forget. I can’t quote it exactly, but it was to the effect of “when I was younger I knew I wasn’t gonna go pro and that I wasn’t progressing as fast as my friends, but it didn’t mean I loved snowboarding any less”. That is such righteous thing to say. I often times find myself walking away from my conversations with Pete feeling in some way enlightened. Snowboarding regardless of your skill level can absolutely consume you and it can become what you are. You can leave it for a long time, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s what you are. I think I have a lot of friends out of the game that can attest to that. The moral of the story is…I am glad we are going to see each other again.
On to the news….
Mike Harrington is premiering his latest masterpiece “Take care” at Shredtoberfest. I expect this video to be intentionally out of Mike’s normal style, but still very much his… if that make sense. The list of riders in the video is ridiculous, but it usually is. Mike doesn’t film just anybody. We’re super excited to see what Dan Pandzic has in there. I heard rumors of some gnarly shit.
Also premiering is the new edit from the Total Revenue guys. The film “In Perpetuum” is Nathan Kudla’s baby. These guys are pretty much the next generation of Michigan shred bosses and they’re about to come of age. Anyway, here’s the trailor…
Mullet Chicken’s vid is out and will be showing on Saturday. You can also see it here!
If you head up to Shredtoberfest you’ll be able to check out a video I haven’t heard a lot about from the Tribe crew. I think I know who is in it and I kinda think I know who filmed and edited, so I guess you’ll just have to go to CBURG and check it out if you need more information than that.
Anyways that’s it for this week, but we do want to give a big shout out to the gnarliest shred girl repping the Mitten right now… Jackie Lammert! Get a load of this video she just put out… I mean shit!
